Realisation of the refrigeration and freezing installations for the new distribution centre of Lidl
Voets & Donkers Koeltechniek en Luchtbehandeling from Schijndel will realise the refrigeration and freezing installations for Lidl’s new distribution centre. Based on projects already completed for Lidl, an improved modern and energy-efficient design has been made based on the natural refrigerants ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide (CO2).
BIM
Building Information Modelling is a procedure in which an intelligent 3D model is created and used to increase insight, collaboration and productivity. For the realisation of the Lidl distribution centre, this method is therefore used to the fullest extent. Voets & Donkers has many years of experience in 3D modelling in close cooperation with building contractors. In this project, Bouwbedrijf Van de Ven is in charge of this process and coordinates the parties involved so that all new designs are continuously merged. This makes the so-called “clashes” transparent in advance, so that conflicts can be prevented during the realisation.
Operational reliability
Lidl is known for its highest quality when it comes to freshness. The cooling process plays a crucial role in this. The distribution centre consists of several product-related zones, each with a specific temperature and humidity. A correct and constant condition benefits the shelf life. Voets & Donkers has over 50 years of experience in the design and construction of installations for the conditioning of food products. A professional service team is on standby 24/7 for preventive maintenance, repairs and monitoring. With a 10-year all-in contract, the user is fully unburdened.

s a supplier of refrigeration and freezing systems, Voets & Donkers is closely involved in achieving the right percentage (Outstanding ≥ 85%) for the various sustainability categories. Cold and Heat storage. The chiller-freezer system produces the cold and (residual) heat for the entire building (including offices). With cold and heat storage in the ground, the necessary heat and cold can be provided all year round, without the use of natural gas or synthetic refrigerants.
